A wooden spinning wheel needs little maintenance — but what it needs, it needs regularly. The bearings on the flyer, the spindle, the cords: a drop of oil at the right time significantly extends the life of all moving parts and prevents the unpleasant squeaking that occurs when dry metal parts rub together.

The Kromski Spinning Wheel Maintenance Kit contains everything needed for a complete routine service of a Kromski spinning wheel — in a compact set you can keep on hand without having to remember what needs to be ordered. It is intended for regular care, not repairs; for specific faults, it is best to contact us directly.

Frequently asked questions about the Maintenance Kit

How often should I service my spinning wheel?

As a guideline: after each intensive session (long sessions of several hours), check whether the bearings need oil — one drop on the flyer shaft and spindle bearings is enough. Check drive bands and brake bands for wear or brittleness; they usually last 1–2 years. The kit provides all the necessary consumables for a season of intensive use.

Which spinning wheels is the kit suitable for?

The Regular Maintenance Kit fits all Kromski Saxony wheels: Polonaise, Symphony, Minstrel, Interlude, Prelude, and Sonata. For the Fantasia there is a separate Fantasia Maintenance Kit, as the Fantasia has a different drive system (magnetic drive). If unsure, please ask: kundenservice@spinnraeder.de.
