The Kromski Fast Flyer is the high-speed flyer for Kromski spinning wheels and enables spinning very fine yarns in lace to fingering weight. Due to its smaller whorl diameter, it rotates significantly faster than the standard flyer for the same treadling effort – ideal for spinning thin, highly twisted yarns.
For Fine Yarns and High Speeds
The finer the yarn, the more twists per centimetre of yarn are needed. The fast flyer delivers exactly that: a high gear ratio that puts many twists into the yarn with few treadle movements. The result is a fine, even yarn with a stable structure – whether merino lace, alpaca fingering or cotton yarn.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I also spin thicker yarns with the fast flyer? The fast flyer is optimised for fine yarns. For DK to worsted weight, the standard flyer is the better choice.
What is the difference from the extra-fast whorl? The fast flyer is its own spinning unit; the extra-fast whorl is a whorl attachment that goes on the standard or fast flyer and additionally increases the gear ratio.
