The Kromski Jumbo Whorl is designed specifically for use with the jumbo flyer and provides the appropriate gear ratio for spinning thick yarns. Its large diameter makes the flyer rotate more slowly for the same treadling effort – perfect for bulky and super bulky yarns that require only a few twists per centimetre.
Slow Rotation for Thick Yarns
Thick yarns need the opposite of lace yarns: few twists, lots of volume. The jumbo whorl delivers a low gear ratio and gives the spinner control without putting too much twist into the thick fibre. Combined with the jumbo flyer set, it creates a capable system for voluminous handspun yarns.
