Sitting at a spinning wheel often means sitting for a long time. The height at which you sit determines your back posture, hip angle, and knee strain during treadling. A regular chair rarely fits: too high, too low, armrests that get in the way, or a backrest that restricts the body movement involved in spinning.

The Kromski Spinning Stool is designed for the seat height that is ergonomically appropriate for treadling a treadle spinning wheel — knees slightly bent, feet flat on the treadles, upper body comfortably upright. No backrest, no armrests, no cushion to disrupt the flow of movement. Just a stable, flat seat at the right height.

Frequently asked questions about the Spinning Stool

Does the stool fit spinning wheels from other manufacturers?

The seat height is matched to Kromski Saxony wheels (Polonaise, Symphony, Minstrel, Prelude, Interlude). For other wheels with a similar treadle height, the stool may work equally well — the key factor is your own height relative to the treadle height of your wheel. If unsure, please get in touch — we are happy to advise.

Why no cushion?

A cushion raises the effective seat height and changes the pelvic tilt. Since the stool's seat height has been optimised for treadling ergonomics, a cushion would reduce this advantage. Anyone who still wants more comfort can use a thin, firm seat pad — soft material acts like an uncontrolled height adjustment.

Can I sit on the stool when I'm not spinning?

Of course. The stool is robust enough for everyday use. Many people also use it as a side stool or extra seat in the living area — especially in the matching wood finish to the spinning wheel, it fits in beautifully.
