Wool combing: aligning fibres in parallel
Wool combing aligns fibres in parallel rather than tangling them. The result is an even top that spins into fine, smooth yarn. The Louet mini wool combs are made from lacquered ash wood, 6.5 cm wide each, fitted with coated galvanised steel teeth (quality upgrade since May 2015). Sold in pairs. Weight approx. 70 g per comb.
Well suited to merino, alpaca, cashmere and other fine to medium fibres. The double-row comb has more teeth per surface area and handles short, fine staple fibres better. The single-row comb is more versatile and also a good starting point for beginners.
