The Lojan models
- Lojan Buddy with wide single treadle (from €415): the wide treadle works with one foot or both.
- Lojan Buddy double treadle (from €455): same build with a double treadle. Comfortable for long sessions.
- Lojan Travel Buddy (from €620): the folding version with double treadle and a backpack made from recycled PET.
All three have five ratios from 1:4 to 1:18, Dutch tension and bobbins holding about 200 g. The open orifice means no threading.
A good first wheel
We often recommend the Buddy double treadle as a first wheel, together with the Kromski Fantasia. It is fairly priced, runs quietly and the large bobbins are enough for bigger projects. More help choosing: Which spinning wheel is right for me?
Lojan FAQ
Buddy single or double treadle?
The double treadle spreads the movement over both feet and is more comfortable for long sessions. The wide single treadle can also be used with both feet.
What is the difference between Buddy and Travel Buddy?
Technically they are the same. The Travel Buddy folds without tools and comes with a backpack.
What is Dutch tension?
A tension system that lets you fine tune the take-up. It is easy to understand and good for beginners.
